There are several good motives for learning Chinese. Mandarin is the most universal language spoken on this planet, and as China grows to be the most controlling in economic dominance, more people will recognize the value in learning it. Conversely, several Westerners are afraid that learning Chinese is really complicated. It's valid that English and other languages spoken in the Western world are quite a bit different than Chinese however if you advance toward it in the correct manner it can be a manageable assignment. The following are some strategies to make it a little easier to learn Chinese. When you determine that you want to learn Chinese, the first thing you want to do is decide which dialect you want to learn. There are at least seven categories of Chinese however some are much more frequently spoken than others. A good number of people who study Chinese opt for Mandarin, as it is the most well-liked. Above and beyond Mandarin being the most commonly spoken language in China, it is spoken by more people than any other language on the planet! The next prevalent dialects are Wu and Cantonese, however unless you have a certain grounds for wanting to learn any other form of Chinese, you'll likely want to pick Mandarin. One of the best ways to learn Chinese is to travel to China or another country where Chinese is spoken. This isn't something everyone can do, but it is still a good goal to keep in mind while you are studying the language. If you do take one of these trips it is better to take one with a tour that focuses on using the language (or to find a language school) because, with so many locals learning English, you'll find that most people you meet will want to practice English with you instead of letting you practice Chinese with them. Lots of people from the West enjoy taking trips to Hong Kong but most people in Hong Kong are fluent in English because it was ruled for so long by the British and, anyway, in Hong Kong, they speak Cantonese Chinese which won't be much use to you if you are trying to learn Mandarin. Mainland China is the best place to go if you want to learn Mandarin. Look for a total immersion program to speed the progress. An immersion program is different because it makes you use the new language exclusively over the course of a weekend, week or more. These courses are given in a variety of places in large cities, universities etc, but you can find them online too. Accelerate your study of Chinese with an immersion program. Because everyone in the class is on the same playing field and skill level you may find it easy rather than intimidating. When trying to experience a new language this way forces your mind to speak and think in this new language. Finally, don't approach this learning as a difficult one but rather as an adventure. Take time to have fun as you learn new words and characters. Pick the right training materials to make your progress less hard and more appealing. Use some discipline to stay consistent as you learn in a simple fun manner.
